Tai Chi Is An Effective Way To Prevent Hypertension

Hypertension, also called 'high blood pressure', is a 'silent killer', for there are no symptoms while it is doing the damage to our body. People may try to see a doctor and take medicine when they find out that they have high blood pressure. But still, it's a bit late. Research has already shown that practicing tai chi constantly and accurately can prevent or fight against hypertension.

What Causes Hypertension?

It's all about blood pressure. When the heart pumps, the blood pressure goes up which shown as the 'systolic number', and when the heart is relaxed and filling with blood, the blood pressure goes down which shown as the 'diastolic number'.
The normal systolic number should be or less than 120 and the normal diastolic should be or less than 80. If the number goes up to 140/90 or higher, then you have a hypertension.
There are several things which usually raise people's blood pressure such as drinking alcohol too much, being overweight, eating too much salt, being not so active, being lack of potassium and calcium and other medical condition.
Hypertension can damage people's heart, brain, kidneys and even eyes. If the blood pressure goes up really high, people may have serious headaches, nausea, and vomiting.

Best Treatment Is 'To Prevent It'

Healthy lifestyle is a key to healthy body. Limit alcohol, cut back on salt, quit smoking, eat low-fat food and do more exercise such as tai chi chuan. It's never been too late to start preventing some bad things to happen on you. So does practicing tai chi. Even you have hypertension these days, you can make it down by effective 'Chi flow' when you practice tai chi.
